Field-First Water Engineering Education
Most vocational training isolates students in sterile classrooms with simplified demonstration kits. Tovila's 12-month apprenticeship places you directly inside our engineering operations from week one.
What “Live Installations” Means
You work on operational client sites across Greater Accra and regional Ghana — commercial food processing factories, multi-residential boreholes, private estates, and institutional campuses.
Instead of simulated exercises, you handle real Ghanaian groundwater with unpredictable iron spikes, high salinity, seasonal turbidity swings, and fluctuating line pressures. You learn how engineering designs adapt when field conditions diverge from site drawings.
Day-to-Day Mentorship
Every apprentice is assigned directly to a senior Tovila project engineer and field installation lead. Mentorship is practical, continuous, and integrated into daily field work.
Your mentor reviews your daily engineering logs, guides your hands during precision solvent welding and pump alignment, explains diagnostic choices on site, and tests your reasoning before any valve is opened or dosing pump calibrated.
Typical Week’s Mix
A standard week balances laboratory science, workshop pre-fabrication, and intensive on-site installation:
- 1 to 2 days: Workshop fabrication, P&ID schematic reading, electrical panel wiring, and water chemistry testing at our facility.
- 3 to 4 days: Field deployment executing pipework, vessel media loading, skid assembly, instrumentation hookup, and commissioning.
- Weekly Review: Technical debrief, fault analysis, and logbook sign-off with the lead engineer.
The 12-Month Apprenticeship Arc
The 12-month timeline builds systematically from fundamental water physics to autonomous plant commissioning.
Foundations & Piping
Safety protocols, workshop tooling, PVC/PPR pipe fabrication, valve mechanics, and basic water testing for pH, TDS, and turbidity.
Pre-Treatment Systems
Multimedia filtration loading, activated carbon bed commissioning, ion exchange water softeners, and chemical dosing pump calibration.
Membrane Skid Assembly
Reverse osmosis pressure vessel loading, O-ring seal inspection, high-pressure pump manifolding, interlock wiring, and CIP skid hookup.
Commissioning & Diagnostics
Baseline recovery verification, differential pressure troubleshooting, electrical PLC fault-finding, and formal handover documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear, honest answers about the Tovila Apprenticeship programme.
Do I need prior experience?
No prior experience is required. This programme is specifically engineered for school leavers (WASSCE, technical institute, or vocational graduates) and career changers transitioning from other sectors. We teach the engineering theory, hydraulic mechanics, chemistry, and safety protocols from the ground up.
Is this paid, or is there a stipend?
Whether a stipend is provided or the specific financial arrangement for the placement is confirmed during the formal application and interview process with Tovila Water Solutions. We do not quote unverified figures; every applicant receives explicit terms before accepting their placement.
What happens after the 12 months?
The programme is structured toward complete employment readiness. Graduates leave with verified field logbooks documenting dozens of real plant builds. The exact progression pathway — including potential direct hire with Tovila, technician contractor engagement, or industry references — is confirmed directly with Tovila toward completion. We do not make generic guaranteed-job claims.
